Alberta “Bert” (Wilhelm) Hoag, 83 of Munhall on April 7, 2011. Daughter of the Late Belle and Peg Wilhelm. Beloved Mother Carol Swetz of Munhall, Jean Whiteman of Plum Boro, Peggy Ficorilli of Munhall, and Barbara Gilbert of Orange Park, FL. Cherished Grandmother of Stacy, Stan, Jennifer, Billy, Tyler, and Erin. Great Grandmother of Bradyn, Blake, Brett, Elsa and Cooper, also survived by longtime friend of Mary Margaret Soles of Munhall. Preceded in death by her brother Joseph Regester, and longtime friends Phyllis Crouse Besnak and Jane Joyce. Bert was a retired registered nurse graduating from the Homestead Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at Homestead hospital after her marriage and until her family increased. At age 47 she returned to work fulltime after taking courses on Neo Natal intensive care at Magee Womens Hospital. She was later promoted to Head nurse of 3E nursery at Magee where she worked for 10 years. She then left there after refusing further advancement which she would have little contact with patients. She then joined a former classmate at Western Penitentiary where she was in charge of the prisons infirmary. Retiring from the Penitentiary and was later asked to return but due to other commitments she refused. Later taking on part-time work at Willis Center where she worked for two years after full retirement she volunteered for two more years. Friends received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at George Irvin Green Funeral Home Inc. 3511 Main Street Munhall. (A Selected Golden Rule firm) Private Funeral services will be on Monday.
