Barbara Ann Dyson of Jefferson Hills died Thursday December 9, 2010 at the age of 73.
Born in Steubenville, OH on December 15, 1936 to Julia and Andrew Balint, she grew up on McWhinney Street in Munhall, PA.  She graduated from Munhall High School in 1954.  While working at Mesta Machine Company she met and married the late Earl Edward Dyson on September 10, 1960.  They were married 45 years.  They settled in Jefferson Borough and raised 3 children where she lived until 2009.
Barbara continued her education and received Certification in Applied Clinical Nutrition and the distinction of the title of Fellow in 1977.  She was an honorary plank owner of the Los Angeles class submarine USS Pittsburgh (SSN-720).  Barbara recently retired from the Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center Head Start Program where she worked for over 30 years as Head Start Director, Social Services Coordinator, and Fiscal Manager.  She enjoyed book club, card club and traveling to visit her children in North Carolina, Texas and Alaska.  She was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and a big fan of defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau.
She is preceded in death by her husband Earl, mother Julia Balint and father Andrew Balint.
A loving wife, mother and friend, she is survived by her children Eric Dyson of Garland TX, Mari (Dyson) Meiners and her husband David of Juneau AK, Adele (Dyson) Owoc and her husband David of Shelby, NC; grandchildren Charlie and Abigail Dyson and Michael and Emily Owoc.


Friends received on Sunday from 6-8 P.M. and Monday 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home Inc. 3511 Main St. Munhall 412-461-6394.  Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 1 P.M. in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Pleasant Hills.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Barbara’s memory to the Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Center for Compassionate Care, 50 Moffett Street, Pittsburgh PA 15243.
