Bessie S. Ferency (Kamberis)

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bessie Sophia Ferency, 83, of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, who left us peacefully on August 4, 2024. Bessie passed surrounded by generations of her loving family in the home that her and her husband built. Bessie was born on January 27, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the cherished child of Nicolas and Olimbia Kamberis.

Bessie Sophia Ferency was the beloved wife of Leonard Ferency Sr., and a devoted mother to Jami Gori, Leonard Ferency Jr. (Jackie), and Dean Ferency (Annette). Bessie’s love and guidance extended to her ten grandchildren: Garett (Liz), Matt (Kari), Lacey (Nick), Sal, Luke, Trinity, Jake, Novena, Gracie, Dino; and three great-grandchildren Beau, Jeter, and Weston, who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her wonderful sister and sister-in-law, Christine DeMatteo and Margie Kamberis.

She was predeceased by Leonard Ferency Sr. (Husband), Nick and Olimbia Kamberis (parents), Spiro Kamberis (brother), Anthony DeMatteo (brother-in-law), Flo and Al Palmeri (sister), who are undoubtedly welcoming her with open arms. 

A celebration of Bessie Ferency’s life will take place from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, August 9, 2024, in the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., 3511 Main Street Munhall.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 419 S. Dithridge Street, Pittsburgh, PA  15213.

Bessie lived a life full of love, touching everyone she met. As our family's matriarch, she was strong and compassionate, always putting others first. We will miss her laughter, wisdom, and warmth, but her love will live on in our hearts.
