Janet M. Kane

Janet Marie Kane, 83, of Munhall, passed away on June 20, 2024. She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Joseph and her daughters Kathy Kane (Todd Harris) also of Munhall, and Jennifer (Ed) Pretzel, and grandchildren Ava and Jake of Hartland, MI. Janet was born on Jan 3, 1941, in Rillton, PA to Helen and George Stehney. She earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Secondary Math Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She began her teaching career at Norwin High School in 1964. After having her two daughters, she joined Community College of Allegheny County as an adjunct professor. She stayed at CCAC for almost 40 years and retired as Professor Emeritus in 2011. She took great pleasure in helping her students understand math and guiding them toward their future goals. Janet also enjoyed shopping, traveling and spoiling her grandchildren and grand-dog, Addie, in her later years. Family and friends received on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 12 - 3pm at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., 3511 Main St. Munhall, 15120, (412-461-6394). A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, June 24, at 12 noon, at St. Thomas the Apostle: St. Therese Worship Site, 1 St. Therese Court, Munhall.
