Jennie Maszle, 87, of Munhall passed peacefully at Arden Court in Jefferson Hills, Pa. on Friday, February 15, 2013. She was born March 1, 1925 in Homestead, Pa.
Jennie was a devoted wife of the late George Maszle for 66 years. She was a loving mother of George (Darlene) Maszle, Janice (Tom) Moffett, Gary (Stacy) Maszle, and Don (Lisa Fitzgerald) Maszle; beloved Grandmother of Emily (Dan) Newell, Erin (Max) Cranfill, Katie Moffett, Tom (Marque) Moffett, Heather (Kyle) LaBrake, Carver and Niles Fitzgerald; with cherished great grandchildren Matthew, Dustin, and Elizabeth Newell, Morley and Livie Cranfill, Luke and Josie Moffett, and Elijah LaBrake.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George; sister, Helen (George) Kovacs; and brother Joseph Trenka.
She is survived by her sister’s son George (Kathy) Kovacs; his brother Jimmy (Sherri) Kovacs; great nephew Matthew (Becky) Kovacs, and his daughter Audrey Rose; great nephew Jeff (Jamee) Kovacs and his children Caleb and Myla ; great niece Jeanna (Matt) Pournaras and her children Kinsley and Aven.
Through marriage, Jennie was a wonderful sister-in-law to Margaret (Jim) Armour; Ann (Harry) Hollis; the late Julia (Sal) Adams; Stephen (Connie); Joseph (Clara); Edward (Arlene); and Helen Maszle, who gave Jennie more than 75 loving nieces and nephews.
Jennie graduated from Homestead High School with a business degree. She attended the Community College of Allegheny County. Before marriage, she worked for four years as a cost and product clerk at U.S. Steel Corporation in Homestead, where she was proficient on the comptometer. She married George in 1946, after he returned from the Navy and they raised four children together. She worked several years as a secretary/bookkeeper for a realty/insurance company as well as a cashier at a card shop. Stemming from her love of caring for people, she took home health aide courses, cared for the elderly, was a Cub Scout den mother, taught Sunday School at Hungarian Reformed Church in Homestead and played in the Bell Choir at Homestead Park United Methodist Church. She had a love of cooking and baking, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
