Johann Fratangelo

November 30, 1941 — September 14, 2024

West Mifflin

Johann Fratangelo, 82, peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2024. She was born on November 30, 1941, in Pittsburgh, PA, and was a former resident of Hazelwood, PA. From an early age, Johann, had a big, kind, enthusiastic heart and treasured spending time joking and laughing with family and friends. She enjoyed playing and watching sports, including swimming, diving, bowling, basketball, baseball, and football – sorry Steeler Nation but Johann’s favorite team was the Minnesota Vikings! She had a special place in her heart for children and animals and was the loving pet-mom to her chihuahua, Sylvia, for 12 years. Johann wore many hats (and vests!) and had various vocations over the years, but none satisfied her more than her work with the children at The Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. She also enjoyed her work at the Board of Education. She had a passion for assisting those in need and loved volunteering with the Paralyzed Veterans of America. More recently, Johann enjoyed her time at the Community Life Center in McKeesport and was very thankful for the patrons, staff, drivers, nurses, and doctors who have been there for her.

Johann was preceded in death by her parents Joseph M. and Edith F. (Crist) Fratangelo, sisters DoraLee Fitzhenry and Annette Hollis, brother, Charles Fratangelo, great-great nephew, Anthony Merced-Kelly, and dear friend Sylvia Strohl.

Johann is survived by her best friend and twin sister, Edith Crandall, brothers Joseph (Clare) and Michael (Lori) Fratangelo and brother-in-law, Thomas Hollis. Also survived by her “like a daughter” niece, Liz Mink, and great nephews, niece, and godchildren Nicohlas (Aisha), Cami, Jorden (Lexie), and Rari Mink; additional 15 nieces and nephews, 16 great-nieces and nephews, and 12 great-great nieces and nephews; and many cousins. Aunt Johann held a special place in her heart for ALL her nieces and nephews who were always there to help when needed throughout the seasons of her life.
