John Moore Turner age 89, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at National Health Care.
Born in Alpharetta, GA, he was a son of the late Guy and Bessie Turner. Mr. Turner served in Italy during WWII in the Army Infantry. He worked for 36 years with US Steel. He was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and also was a volunteer for 40 years with the Boy Scouts as a Cub Scout leader and worked up to District Commissioner. He was preceded in death by sisters, Francis Erwin and Patsy Coleman and brothers, Perry, Byron, Ray, Neil and Harold Turner.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Turner of Myrtle Beach; sons, Gary Turner (Stephanie) of Pittsburgh, PA, David Turner of The Netherlands and John Turner, Jr. (Darlene) of Akron, OH; a daughter, Diane Burnes (Jack) of Pittsburgh, PA; six grandchildren, Jackie Kelly (Alex), Jamie Turner, Melanie Turner, Jenny Turner, Reid Burnes (Cathy) and Marc Burnes (Jodi) and five great-grandchildren; sisters, June Freeman, Peggy Martin and Betty Ellis; brothers, Bud and Robert Turner

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3-7 P.M. at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home Inc. 3511 Main St. Munhall 412-461-6394 a graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Cemetery
