Kenneth Senka

Kenneth “Kenny” G. Senka, age 59, of West Mifflin peacefully passed away at home on August 19, 2024. 

Born 12/28/64 in Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of the late George J. Senka and the late Marlene M. Vangura Senka Scheidemantle. 

Kenny was the 3rd generation owner of Vangura Iron, Inc. His love of steel fabrication began in 1989 when he started working for his late uncle, Paul Vangura, Jr., at Vangura Iron, Inc., a company founded by his grandfather in 1945. He loved a challenge when it came to steel fabrication and he always had a tablet and pencil next to the bed for when he woke up with an idea, and he woke up often! He took great pride in his work and the many relationships he made along the way. When he was not designing or building something, you would find him on his boat fishing for Walleye on Lake Erie. His family members had an endless supply of Walleye to enjoy! In Kenny’s younger years baseball was his passion. He played catcher for numerous teams in the Cranberry and Zelienople areas and even had a tryout with the Pittsburgh Pirates at age 16! He said he was humbled by the talent when he went for the try out. Kenny was a member of the Greenfield Soldiers and Sailors Legion where he would meet up with some great people & friends on Sunday mornings

In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his sister Shelly Senka, stepfather Wayne Scheidemantle, and uncle Paul Vangura, Jr.

Surviving is his loving wife Sandee (Lynskey) Senka, beloved son Andrew (Eva Heidingsfelder) Senka, and his special grand puppy Shadow. Additional survivors include brother Thomas (Kim) Senka, sister Lynn Senka, stepmother Janet Senka, sisters-in-law Cheri (Guy) Jackel, and Ann (Jerry) Jackovich, stepson Shaun Flaherty, stepbrothers Robert Simpson and Kurt (Linda) Scheidemantle. Aunts Paulette (Dr. John) Harrison, JoAnn (Marty) Szott and Beth Vangura, and uncle Edward Vangura.

Special nieces and nephews include, Ryan (Becca) Senka, Alyssa Senka, Reese Senka, Marrina (Brian) Ashbaugh, Megan Weimer, Dave (Taleesha) Jackel, Paul (Kristy) Jackel and Katie (Lee Bennett) Marcinko and numerous loving cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kenny’s memory to Jamie’s Dream Team, a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to offer hope when there is little, to ease the burden caused by serious illness, injury, disability, trauma or catastrophic events.  (Jamie's Dream Team, 4617 Walnut Street, McKeesport, PA 15132.

The family would like to thank AHN Inpatient Palliative Care team (Dr. Chow, Janice, Amy & Maura); AHN Outpatient Palliative Care team (Loni and Megan) -- your care enabled Kenny to be comfortable and at home; nurse Pam from Gallagher Home Health Services who was of great help before hospice care, and his extra-special AHN Home Hospice nurse Mila—a true angel in disguise. Also, we would like to thank our special neighbors Joe & Momma Lorraine, JoAnn, Kathy, Jack & Deb, Joe, and Eugene & Lynn for all their love and support during Kenny’s illness, always available with a helping hand, love and support.

Family and friends will be received at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc. 3511 Main St. Munhall, PA  15120 on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM and Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:30 AM with Pastor Keith Kaufold Officiating.
