Loretta Pickett

June 17, 1938 — March 15, 2025

Loretta B. (Black) Pickett, 86, of West Mifflin, went to her eternal home on Saturday, March 15, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Latrobe on June 17, 1938, to Britta and Edgar Black, she grew up in Westmoreland County, graduating from Latrobe High School. She graduated from Latrobe Nursing School as a Registered Nurse and worked at McKeesport Hospital for 40 years. Loretta is preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, James (Jim) L. Pickett, Jr. Loretta and Jim were married for over 40 years. Loretta is survived by her brother, Norman Black of Bradenville. She was the rock for her two beloved children, Lisa (James) Stillwagon of Ross Township and James (Erica) Pickett of Moon Township. The true joys of her life were her five grandchildren. Jadyn, Evan, Lucas, Brody, and Liam were, as she would say, her “pride and joy.” She is also survived by three loving nieces and several cousins. Loretta’s life centered around Messiah Lutheran Church and her love of God. She was a Meals on Wheels volunteer, a member of the Duquesne Women’s Club for many years, and spent many memorable times with her Bridge Club friends. Golfing, bowling, and cheering for the West Virginia Mountaineers were three of her favorite past times. Those close to Loretta knew how she loved telling old stories and showing her many photos. She never met a person she didn’t like and would easily become friends with everyone she met.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 20, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, 3511 Main Street, Munhall 15120. A Funeral Service will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church on Friday, March 21, at 11:00AM. Burial is to follow.
