MARGARET L. (PEGGY) JOHN

Age 86,of West Mifflin, peacefully on December 27, 2011.  Survived by beloved sons Gary of Merritt Island, FL and Robert of West Mifflin and cherished granddaughters Caitlin and Meghan and their mother, Judith Carroll John, all of FL.  Preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, William, and her parents Harry and Eleanor (Spangler) Lessig.  Peggy was a graduate of Munhall High School and the University of  Pittsburgh, where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority.  She was an avid swimmer, both at the Carnegie Library of Homestead pool and at her beloved Midway Beach at Conneaut Lake, where she enjoyed countless summers.  She also loved music and she and Bill enjoyed singing in church choirs together for many years.

Special thanks to Peggy’s companions from Home Instead and the staff and therapists at Manor Care - Whitehall for their help before and after her stroke in March.  Extra-special thanks to Heartland Hospice and the staff and caregivers at Arden Courts of Pleasant Hills for their kindness and compassion and for the loving care they provided Peggy after her arrival there in May.

Friends received on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home Inc. 3511 Main St. Munhall 412-461-6394 Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 A.M. in the First Presbyterian Church of Duquesne. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH
