Mary Cook

Mary Catherine (Mathieson) Cook. Age 97, died unexpectedly on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at her home.  She was the wife of Merle P. Cook, who pre-deceased her in 1965.  Survived by her two children, M. Paul (Mary) of Munhall, and Catherine (Richard) of Woburn, MA.  Mary was blessed with two grandchildren, Kitty of Virginia Beach, VA , and Andy of West Orange, New Jersey.  She also is survived by 4 great-children. Mary was pre-deceased by her parents, Andew and Mary Mathieson; brothers Andrew, George, Robert, William, Norman, John, Emerson, David, and Richard; and her sister, Margaret Garrity.  Mary had a large extended family of nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Mary was the former owner of Ann Street Radio in Homestead, PA.  She was the longest communicant of the Homestead UP Church in Homestead, PA.  She was a graduate of Munhall High School, Class of 1933,  One of Mary’s greatest pleasures was working in her flower gardens and family gatherings.  It is the wishes of her family that you plant a flowering shrub or rose bush in her memory and enjoy the splendor of the flowers each year.  Even though she loved flowers, she wanted to enjoy the flowers while she was alive.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Homestead UP Church,  912 Ninth Ave Homestead, PA or Carnegie Library of Homestead Pool Fund.
Friends received 7-9 PM Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 PM Friday at George Irvin Green Funeral Home 3511 Main St. Munhall where services will be held on Saturday at 11:30 AM.
