Raymond McKinney Himes of West Mifflin, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 21, at age 85. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Grace and devoted daughters Cindy and Linda of Bridgeville, PA. He was born on April 21, 1925 to the late Charles and Rebecca Himes of Pitcairn, PA; brother of the late Charles, Martha and Fanny Lee; also survived by his brother Harvey Thomas of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He graduated from Pitcairn High School in 1943, where he played football and attended Lock Haven University. He honorably served with the US Navy on an LST in Europe, and the Pacific during WWII from 1943 to 1946. He retired from US Steel in Homestead after 36 years of service. He was a proud member of the US Navy LST Association, and attended Naval reunions. Friends received Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the GEORGE IRVIN GREEN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3511 Main St., Munhall, (412 461-6394), where services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jack McKinney officiating. Committal Service will be held on Monday at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 12:30p.m. Raymond adored his pet dogs through the years. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to Animal Friends, Inc. of Pittsburgh.
