Richard “Rich” Sullenberger went home with the Lord on March 15, 2025 surrounded by family after a brief illness. Born November 21, 1948, in Mount Pleasant to parents, the late, Ralph and Francis (Hresko) Sullenberger; he leaves behind his beloved wife of 25 years, Christine Sullenberger; treasured children, daughter Rebecca (Gary) Ofner and son Jeremiah Sullenberger; two cherished step-children, Richard M. Charles lll and Frank Gray Jr. and his partner, Amanda; and two brothers, Ed (Dorothy) and George (Joyce) Sullenberger, whom will miss Rich greatly. Rich also leaves behind three grandchildren that were his everything, Daniel & Kimber Gray, and Cooper Sullenberger, all of whom will miss their “Pap” dearly. Rich was an exceptional grandfather and great friend to all. Rich was employed for 38 years at Duraloy Technologies in Scottdale, PA, and was formerly a school van driver by First Student
Rich was an extremely proud veteran of the United States Navy, for which he served four years during the Vietnam Era with the rank of AN, or Naval Airman. There he specialized in Aircraft Mechanics before returning home.
Beyond his love of country, Rich enjoyed oil painting, making many beautiful landscape works of art. He loved to travel and was especially fond of history with a focus on the Civil War. One of his last trips, with his beloved Christine, was to Gettysburg where they made memories to last a lifetime.
Per Rich’s wishes, full military honors and a blessing service will be rendered privately at The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA.
