Stephen L. Takacs, age 94 of Hays peacefully on January 3, 2012, born June 20, 1917 to the late Laszio and Anna (Yuhasz) Takacs. Beloved husband of 69 years of Anna Betty Takacs; loving father of Jean M. (Oliver) Guthrie of Calabash, NC and James A. (Alice) Takacs of Pittsburgh. Brother of the late infant brothers Steve and Frank Takacs, Elizabeth Balogh, Emma Hurbanek, Joseph L. Takacs, Mary Marlatt, Anna Furlong, Margaret Vargo and Bertha Smelko. Cherished grandfather of Andrea Guthrie, Laurene (Stan) Nowakowski and Linda (Fred) Smith. Also survived by 4 great-grandchildren, Brianna, Justin, Sean, and Lauren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Takacs worked for 48 years in the Shipping Department of J & L Steel Corporation’s Hot Strip Mill in Hazelwood.
