William Thomas Hart

William Thomas “Murph” Hart, age 86 of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on October 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. William was born on March 12, 1938 to Virgil and Elizabeth (Reese) Hart. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 61 years, Barbara (Bickus) Hart, brother, Frank and son, Keith.

William is survived by his daughter Barbara (James) Dorney, son Mark, his beloved grandchildren, Chad (Aimee) Dorney, Bethany (Michael) Pelikan, John Michael and Natalie Hart, his cherished great grand-children, Harper Reese and Maddox Kade Pelikan, and Scottie Hart Dorney, and treasured nieces Dianne Donohue and Ruthie Long.

William retired from US Steel, Carrie Furnace after 30 years of service and later worked at the Homestead branch of Mellon Bank. He was a lifelong resident of West Mifflin, lifetime member of the Homeville Volunteer Fire Company #1, and a cherished friend and neighbor to many. For more than 70 years William loved spending time at Pymatuning Lake with family and friends. He was an avid sports fan and proud supporter of everything West Mifflin. He will forever be a #1 Pitt fan and was so excited about this year’s 6-0 record (H2P)!

William’s family is so grateful for the support they have received from friends, neighbors, and caregivers. They will miss him greatly but take solace from many warm memories and the knowledge that he is now free from the pain that he endured without complaint or bitterness; it may have slowed his step and body, but it never took his spirit.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 24, from 2-8 PM at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., 3511 Main Street, Munhall 15120, 412-461-6394, where a Funeral Service will be held the following morning, Friday, October 25, at 10 AM, with Pastor Shaun Mitchell officiating.
