Master Sergeant Thomas B. Petroff (Retired USAF) of Cibolo, TX formerly of Duquesne, PA passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 after a brief illness. Born on May 16, 1959, he was the son of the late Joan Shaffer Petroff and the late Peter Petroff.
He is survived by his sister, Zoe Ann (Jim) Barca of Munhall and his brother Mark (Diane) Petroff of North Huntingdon; nieces and nephews, Jaime Barca Zoroya, Brian (Sarah) Barca, Caitlin (Mills) Barca Allison, Jim (Caryn Cordero) Barca, Zakary Petroff and Allison (Jonathan) Ansell. Great uncle to Grace, Salem, Jordan, Madison, Jensen and Haevyn. Loving nephew of Jean Riley; also survived by cousins and his girlfriend Lillian Salazar.
Tom was a 1977 graduate of Duquesne Senior High School and earned his associates degree from CCAC. In 1986 he joined the US Air Force and proudly served his country until he retired in 2009. During his tenure with the USAF he received numerous medals and decorations.
As a very talented guitarist he played in various bands throughout the years. In addition to music he loved road trips, movies, books, biking and most of all spending time with his family and friends. Tom was kind, goodhearted and generous with a great sense of humor. He had what has been described as a memorable, contagious laugh and a big smile. He was loved by more than he could ever have imagined. He is and will always be greatly missed.
Family and friends will be received Friday, September 11, 2020 from 2-4 PM and 6 PM until the time of the service at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, 3511 Main Street, Munhall, PA (412-461-6394) where a Funeral service will be held at 7:30 PM with Pastor Mark Shaffer officiating. Burial will take place with military honors at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 12:30 PM.
